about

One of CONQUEST'S biggest interruptions that occurred in his life was losing a great friend in Roderick "Rod The Specialist" Reid and the main producer for "A Radical Interruption: The Motion Picture" and close friend Roberto "Top Rank" Torres. "Angels In The Outfield" is inspired by and dedicated to them, and it also features Roderick and 'QUEST'S close friends: R.Q.TEK, DESCENDENT, ZAI XP & FACTS ON ANY BLOCK.

lyrics

Aye Rod, do or die, you revolutionized all styles of super fly
Suit & ties to every single Jordan, yeah, you knew the vibe
By the way, I still ain't got those Black Cements
That you recommended 'cause resell is like half my rent
And the thing is, I'll probably still get 'em to just to rep you
For times you were without a home but school you had to get through
To tell the truth, I'm vexed too, upset 'cause it seemed only in death
You finally got the greatest love & respect
But to be honest, I'm vexed with myself for missing moments that you set up in texts
Cause my career had me stressed
Twisted ankles had me cancel more visits thinking I'd see you in a minute
But now you're a 'Ghost', it's hitting different
I'm glad you missed Covid-19, you would've hated that
Along with Breonna catching zzz's and getting slain for that
Life of the party, ain't no mistaking that
To see you again, what could I trade for that, I cause swore that you'd make it back

I can't believe I gotta give you up, say goodbye and
I can't conceive that we're out of time
Still trying to find myself some closure
Though I'm so glad your pain is over
I'm still in pain 'cause you're gone

It's still hard knowing you was chosen
My superpower might be that I'm broken, but you in heaven floating
A humble dude, you was never gloating
Always supported me when I was hosting
After "The Shade", we began the roasting, you was my brother, we was always joking
Plenty of convos, we was really open
We kept it real, there was no decoding
You wore your heart, and you stay emoting, that love was there, it was very potent
You are not here, and the time is blowing
But has it soaked in, or am I coping? It might be pending, my emotions loading
See when you left, my face became an ocean
Full of the fears, while my tears dropped past my clothing
Your time is over, that mean mine approaching
I celebrate you, I'm forever toasting, but what's an athlete without the coaching
I bear your fruit, you was always sowing
I love you bro, and I'm knowing that you know it

I can't believe I gotta give you up, say goodbye and
I can't conceive that we're out of time
Still trying to find myself some closure
Though I'm so glad your pain is over
I'm still in pain 'cause you're gone

Lost, confused. Such a solid dude
Played by God's rules, your soul did not lose
Fools, thinking we had time, hitting the snooze
You needed us the most, we out paying our dues
Played it cool, like you always do
The love you showed us? Forever with the crew
Fighting through your sickness, your body banged up and bruised
Gave it all you had, using God's tools
And proved everyday, focused, wanted to heal
Amazed at your strength, you always kept it real
Laid back, calm, collected, always chill
Sock game on lock, sneakerhead, catch him on the grill
Son, brother, a friend, poet with the skill
We waited too late to show you how we truly feel
GM needs you on this team, signed a great deal
The gentle giant is an angel on the outfield

Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
I'm still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
I'm still in pain that you're gone

Friday April 30th, I'm on the Staten Island Ferry
New Gojira in the headphones & their album title's heavy
Cause I would need every ounce of Fortitude for the news
I was 'bout to read on my Instagram feed
A moment I don't believe, just know that I couldn't breathe
I saw a picture of my boy that I don't usually see
Cause he barely posts himself, like this is new, what's happening
And then I read caption
Wait, hold up, then I read the caption twice
And then I read it again like: Yo, this isn't right
This can't be life, No Robert Torres didn't die
So much shock to the point I didn't cry
Cause I can't believe I'm missing you
You never got to hear the music you produced that y'all out there are listening to
Cause I steady wanted it to be ready
Now tears will fall like raindrops instead of confetti
Cause the celebration I expected is interrupted now
I wanna tell you about my marriage, all it's ups and downs
And how Dipset got crushed by The Lox
And how I can't wait for your joint to finally drop
So that the world could get to know the White Rhino
Rapper/producer always sampling the right vinyl
Who loved coffee, even more, loved Jesus
And turned many into his believers, I can't believe it

Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
I'm still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
Still in pain that you're gone
I'm still in pain that you're gone

Hey Rod
You specialized in being kind
Your humbleness
Restored my sister's faith in good men
Angel in the outfield like Chadwick Boseman, number 42
You taught me to batter up
Step up to the plate, push through
With your guidance, I hit a home run
I'm still in pain that you're gone
