This is Brooklyn MC/songwriter CONQUEST'S debut album. "Torchbearer" (originally released in September 2003 & re-released officially in January 2004) is an album that came into fruition after 'QUEST created two demos that sold at shows and it began his working relationship with career collaborator DANIEL STEELE who produced the bulk of this album. In retrospect, "Torchbearer" not only represents his start as a full fledged independent artist but on careful inspection, it hints to the more developed sound that started to really come into fruition on 2009's "Outspoken" album & beyond. Even in these early recordings you can see traces of the emo, political, social commentary, alternative rock/metal & of course spiritual/evangelical aspects of the sound that completely solidifies CONQUEST'S music now. So do download and explore the 1st album that was part one of his "Torchbearer" series with his 2004 & 2005 studio albums completing the trilogy. This special 10th Anniversary Edition of this album also includes 2003's "WHO WE LOVE" a song off Harlem MC ENC'S "Real Laughs, Real Love...Real Life" that features ENC, Q THE PROPHET, UNKNOWN PROPHECY (now ELIJAH MIGUEL) & CONQUEST himself who were collectively known as THE MISSIONFIELD.
